Resource: Tools You'll Need to Build Your Wood Bike Kit Frame
The wood bike frame kits have been designed for assembly using minimal tools and equipment.
Required Space and Items
- A flat work surface
- Bar clamps (min 3" clamping width, min 2" throat depth)
- Band clamp (min 8' band, light duty)
- Sandpaper (bulk pack ranging from 60 - 220 grit)
- Dust mask
- Sharp knife / razor
- Straight edge / ruler
These tools and materials are not required to complete the build but can be helpful to speed up some of the steps and add to the finished product.
- Files & rasps
- Electric sander
- Masking or Painter's Tape
- Decals, graphics, and badges
The instructions included in the kit (as well as the Prep Kit) include details about how each of these is used and the importance of particular specifications. For example, a flat work surface is an important part of the build since the work surface is used to guide alignment of the frame as you put it together.
