These wood bike rocker dropout brackets are our most universal option for mounting a rear wheel, derailleur, and rear disc brake on a wood bike. They are designed for use with the Paragon Machine Works rocker inserts, giving an array of options and combinations for axle and brake mount type.
Please note, the Paragon Machine Works inserts are NOT included and must be purchased directly through their website.
Additionally, the IS-mount disc brake inserts will limit the rocker travel to ~50% as shown:
The brackets are laser cut from 1/4" thick 6061-T651 aluminum and are anodized black, with a grade 5 titanium connecting bolt connecting the upper and lower brackets. This connection allows for various chainstay to seat stay angles, and provides a natural frame break point for belt drive applications.
The chainstay brackets are 1.5" tall at the frame mounting area and have a 10 degree bend inward. The seat stay brackets are 1" tall at the frame mounting area and have an 11 degree bend inward. These bends allow the use of straight wood stays and improve heel clearance when wide chainstays are used.
Titanium rocker bolts are available, as well as aluminum binding bolts for connection to the frame. It is recommended to use a toughened structural epoxy in addition to the frame binding bolts.
Bare aluminum brackets are available by request.
